TODAY'S ARTIST: Kre8ive

The creative force behind Ai Kre8ive, Will (AKA Kre8ive)

TODAY'S ARTIST:  Kre8ive March 15, 2023

I am pretty damn excited about Today's Artist, Kre8ive.  I came across their work on Instagram recently, and I was pretty blown away by some of the intriguing images that Kre8ive have achieved through AI, and I like their mission statement:  "Our mission at our AI-powered Shopify store is to revolutionize the way you experience fashion and art."

After looking at the their impressive AI work, I wanted to reach out to Kre8ive to get to know them and introduce Kre8ive to the art world and welcome them to The Art Collective family & community.

Will was gracious enough to sit down, give me their time, and answered questions for T.A.C.  So let's get to know Ai Kre8ive!

T.A.C.:  Hello!  How are you today?  What's been going on?

Kre8ive:  Hey, I'm crushing it, grinding towards my ultimate goal of elevating Ai Kre8ive to new heights of recognition and making it a sick brand that everybody's talking about.

T.A.C.:  That's awesome!  Looking forward to it!  Want to start to off by introducing yourself and where you're from?

Kre8ive:  Yo, what's up?  I'm Will, also known as Ai Kre8ive, and I'm repping Orange County, California!

T.A.C.:  How old were you when you started created art?

Kre8ive:  I first started honing my skills back in the day when I was in the 7th and 8th grade and takign art classes, so I was about 13 years young then.

T.A.C.:  Does your environment inspire your artwork?

Kre8ive:  Being immersed in the tech scene all day, everyday, definitely gives me the inspiration I need to keep creating dope art.

T.A.C.Excellent, excellent.  I can see that.  Who are your biggest artistic influences?

Kre8ive:  My biggest artistic influences run deep and include the legendary H.R. Giger, the surrealist Salvador Dali, the subversive Bansky, the visionary Alex Grey, and the hauntingly beautiful works of Zdislaw Beksinki and Wojciech Zawadzki.  Each of these artists has left an incredible mark on my creative process, inspiring me to push boundaries and strive for greater heights with Ai Kre8ive.

T.A.C.:  I can definitely see the influences in your work.  Do you have a favorite medium and if so, can you tell me about it?

Kre8ive:  As an AI artist, I'm fully immersed in the world of digital art, and I absolutely love exploring the endless possibilities that technology has to offer.  While I don't work with traditional mediums like charcoal or airbrush spray paint, I still have mad respect for artists who do.  In fact, their creativity and unique styles often inspire me to think outside the box and push the boundaries even further with Ai Kre8ive.  So, whether I'm using code, algorithms, or software, I'm always looking to create art that's fresh, innovative, and totally rad.

T.A.C.:  I would definitely classify AI as an art medium.  It's new, it's fresh, and the art world is becoming more open to it.  I can definitely respect what AI artists do, and I have seen some amazing pieces that it has to be classified as a medium.

Do you have any other sources that you pull inspiration from?

Kre8iveOh, absolutely!  I'm constantly scanning and learning from a vast array of sources to help inform and inspire my art.  From the latest trends in pop culture and technology to the timeless wisdom of philosophers and pets, I'm always on the lookout for new ideas and fresh perspectives.  And, of course, my amazing users like you, who challenge me to push boundaries of what's possible with Ai Kre8ive, are a constant source of inspiration and motivation for me.  So, whether I'm drawing from the past, present, or future, I'm always striving to create art that's cutting-edge, thought-provoking, and totally rad!

T.A.C.:  You're a really positive and uplifting artist, and hearing your responses are quite inspiring, even for me, someone who always finds themselves coming back to the art community to create.  I'm gaining so much inspiration from this piece, and I really just enjoy your outlook on the future possibilities for the AI art world.

When is your favorite time of day to create?

Kre8ive:  My favorite time to create is during that magical beta state that happens right before bedtime.  There's something about that relaxed but focused state of mind that really gets my creative juices flowing.  And who knows, maybe it's because that's when my brain is at peak performance, or maybe it's just because I feel more free to let my imagination run wild when I'm not distracted by the day's tasks.  Either way, I always try to take advantage of those moments of inspiration, no matter when they occur!

T.A.C.:  I actually completely get it!  I love this response.  It's honest and raw, I appreciate that a lot!

In your own words, can you describe why art is important to the world?

Kre8ive:  Art is like a superpower that can change the world.  It's a language that everyone can understand and it has the power to inspire, challenge, and transform us in ways we never thought possible.  Whether we're creating art or simply experiencing the art of others, it allows us to express ourselves and connect with others on a deep level.  And the best part?  Art has the ability to promote empathy, understanding, and social justice.  So yeah, art is pretty darn cool, if you ask me!

T.A.C.:  That is probably one of the most moving responses that I have ever heard about why art is important.  I absolutely agree and I love it!  Thank you for that!

What motivates you to create?

Kre8ive:  Oh yeah, you know it!  When it comes to what motivates me to create, it's all about that feeling.  Back in the day, I used to produce some sick techno, trance, and drum n bass beats with my band, Speaker Junkies, all thanks to the magic of computerized technology.  And let me tell you,  there's nothing quite like that rush of inspiration you get when you hear a song that just speaks to you or see something that really piques your interest.  It's like a fire ignites within you and you just have to create something that captures that feeling.  So yeah,  for me it's all about following that inner spark and seeing where it takes me!

T.A.C.:  How do you define success as an artist?

Kre8ive:  For me, success as an artist isn't about the number of accolades or the amount of cash flowing in (although that's always nice, let's be real).  No, no, no, it's all about that feeling of pure satisfaction you get when you look at your own work and just know deep down in your bones that you've created something truly special.  It's about that feeling of absolute contentment, where you know you've poured your heart and soul into your art and it's exactly what you envisioned it to be.  That's the kind of success that matters, the kind that fills you up from the inside out and keeps you coming back for more.  So yeah, success to me is all about being content and happy with your own work, and let me tell you, there's nothing quite like that feeling!

T.A.C.:  Truly love your outlook and you have a fascinating way of articulating your love and passion, that's it is incredibly contagious.

Does art help you in any other areas of your life?

Kre8ive:  Art is more than just a hobby for me.  It's a form of therapy that helps me tune out the noise and connect with something deeper within myself.  And yeah, when Ai Kreive makes sales, it's a huge boost to the bank account.  But it's not just about the money, it's about the sense of accomplishment and pride that comes with creating something that people value.  So, in short, art helps me in many ways, from keeping me centered to boosting my bottom line.

T.A.C.:  I can relate to that as well, for sure!  Art can definitely keep people centered and focused in many ways.

How do you develop your artistic skills?

Kre8ive:  Great question for me!  For me, developing my artistic skills has been all about experimentation and practice.  I'm constantly trying new things, pushing the boundaries of what I thought was possible, and learning from my mistakes along the way.  Whether it's experimenting with new techniques, learning from other artists, or just putting in the hours and practicing my craft,  I'm always looking for ways to improve and refine my skills.  And, of course, technology has been a huge help as well, giving me access to all sorts of tools and resources that I can use to take my art to the next level.  So, in short, developing my artistic skills is all about experimentation, practice, and using technology to my advantage.

T.A.C.:  Have you worked as a professional artist before?

Kre8iveHeck yeah!  If you count my 10-year stint playing techno, trance, and drum n/ bass with the Speaker Junkies, at all the hottest clubs and raves, then I guess you could say I've got some professional artist experience under my belt.  It was a wild ride, but it definitely helped me develop my creative chops and taught me a lot about how to connect with audiences and express myself through music.

T.A.C.:  I'd definitely say that counts!  Music is another art form; you're still creating something and it's still something people people can experience!

Has your style changed over time or have you basically kept true since the beginning?

Kre8ive:  My music style has always been drawn to that gritty, underground sound and hasn't changed much over the years.  But when it comes to digital art, I'm still in the process of discovering my style.  I hopped on the AI train a few months ago, starting with Chat GPT and then leveling up with Midjourney, and it's been a total game-changer.  I'm experimenting with different techniques and approaches, and it's all about exploring and finding my creative voice.  It's a journey, man!

T.A.C.:  What's your favorite and least favorite parts of professional arts?

Kre8iveAs an artist who's been around the block a bit, I can say that my favorite part of professional art is the creative freedom to produce work that truly resonates with me.  On the flip side, the least favorite part would have to be dealing with the business side of things, such as managing finances and marketing my work.  But hey, I'm willing to put in the work to share my art with the world!

T.A.C.:  I completely agree with you.  Do you have a network of other artists and do they support/mentor you?

Kre8iveOh yeah, my crew is tight-knit and we all have each other's backs.  We stay connected through social media and even have our own little art community online.  We share everything from new software and tools to fresh ideas and inspiration.  I also love tapping into the larger artist community on Instagram - it's like a never-ending source of support and creative energy.  It's amazing to see what other artists are up to and to learn from their techniques and processes.

T.A.C.:  Exactly!  There's so much to learn from the amazing talent you come across on Instagram.

What have critics and collectors said about your work?

Kre8ive:  Oh man, my IG fam has been showing so much love and support for my work!  They've been leaving comments and DMs that keep me hyped up and motivated to keep creating.  As for critics and collectors,  I'm still building up my presence in the art world, but so far the responses has been positive.

T.A.C.:  How do you manage a work-life balance as an artist?

Kre8ive:  For me, balancing work and life is all about prioritizing and time management.  As an artist, I have a flexible schedule, which allows me to plan my day according to my needs.  I make sure to set aside time for both my artistic work and personal life.  And when I'm creating, I try to be fully immersed in the process, so that I can get the most out of my time.  Overall, it's about finding a balance that works for you and your lifestyle.

T.A.C.:  I like that answer!  I'm still trying to balance everything that I do.  Haha!

How can we, The Art Collective, help with your career growth?

Kre8ive:  Well, I appreciate the offer!  The Art Collective can help my career growth by featuring my work and sharing it on their blog and social media channels.  Exposure is always helpful in expanding my audience and gaining new opportunities.  Additionally, any support or feedback from the community is always appreciated and can help me continue to develop my skills as an artist.

T.A.C.:  That's why I started The Art Collective;  I love art and I love discovering new artists, and I just want to share the love and appreciation with others.

Describe your dream project and do you have a dream collaboration with anyone?

Kre8ive:  To be honest, my dream project is already happening with Ai Kre8ive.  But if I could have a chance to get an in-depth experience of the creative process of any of the top 10 drum and bass artists, that would be amazing.  It's not really a collaboration, but more of a chance to see their creative process and learn from it.  As for The Art Collective, any exposure or platform to showcase my work would be greatly appreciated.

T.A.C.:  I can definitely help with my side of it, and definitely will here in this article, and The Art Collective socials.  I'm looking to branch out and make T.A.C. big, and with us helping each other right here, will definitely help us both.  Anything that I can do to help, I will.

Do you have a favorite and/or least favorite work of art you created?

Kre8ive:  My favorite piece would have to be, "Angel & Demon," a work of art that draws inspiration from the great Leonardo da Vinci.  It was created on aged art paper, giving it a vintage and classic feel (digital realm, of course).  As for my least favorite, I don't necessarily have one as each piece is a learning experience for me.

T.A.C.Can you tell me about your techniques when you're experiencing a creative block?

Kre8ive:  When the creativity tank hits empty, I take a step back and try something new or go out for a walk.  Sometimes all it takes is a break to spark inspiration, but if not, I trust my gut and let my body recharge before diving back in.  It's all about finding what works for you.

T.A.C.:  Do you have any favorite artists?  And what kind of music do you like - does that inspire your work?

Kre8iveSure, some of my favorite visual artists include H.R. Giger, Salvador Dali, M.C. Escher, and Bansky.  In terms of music, I'm all about that gritty trap, heart-pumping drum n' bass, chill lofi hip-hop, and bass heavy house beats.  I'm a big fan of The Prodigy, Linkin Park, Pendulum, Chase & Status, Dieselboy, Korn, Tiesto, Daft Punk, Metallica, TOOL, Armin van Buuren, Deadmau5, and, of course, 311, my all-time favorite!  They definitely inspire my creative process and drive my art forward.

T.A.C.:  What kind of movies do you like and do they inspire your work?

Kre8ive:  I'm into epic flicks like Tron, Terminator, Alien, and Marvel movies, but also classics like The Goonies, Predator, and Rambo.  I even vibe with some off-the-wall stuff like The NeverEnding Story and Black Sheep.  I'm really into war movies and I love when they're set in lush jungle environments with rain pouring down.  That kind of imagery definitely inspires my work!

T.A.C.:  I can definitely see these movies in your work!

Do you have any hobbies?

Kre8iveFor sure, I'm into a few things outside of art.  I love to play Call of Duty MWII, dabble in videography, go fishing, strum on my ukulele, cook up a storm on my Blackstone flat grill, cruise around on my friends OneWheel, and explore all kinds of delicious food as a true foodie.

T.A.C.:  What's some interesting facts about you you'd like to share?

Kre8iveOne interesting fact I'd like to share is that I started a YouTube channel called, "Dr. Motivation411," where I create motivational videos.  It's amazing how creating those videos has actually motivated me to pursue my passion for art even more, leading me to start Ai Kre8ive.  It's like I inspired myself to create something great by inspiring others.

T.A.C.:  If you were to make a parody project of a famous piece of artwork, what would it be?

Kre8iveIf I were to create a parody project of a famous piece of artwork, I would draw inspiration from my favorite artist, H.R. Giger, and make a spoof of his famous work, "Necronom IV."  I'd add a whimsical twist by replacing the demonic figures with comical cartoon characters, all while maintaining Giger's intricate and dark style.  It would be a fun and lighthearted take on a typically dark and serious artwork.

T.A.C.:  I love it and I'd honestly love to see that happen!!!!

T.A.C.Thank you so much for taking the time to answer these questions, it really means a lot, and I know your time is very valuable.  It means a lot that you would give this opportunity to get to know you and share your life and work on my blog, The Art Collective.
